OUR STORY

The story of VaVi Tulips

The story of VaVi Tulips began three generations ago, during the early development of the Noordoostpolder.

At that time, grandfather Van Vilsteren was allocated a farm in this newly reclaimed land. With passion and curiosity, he began experimenting with growing tulips. This marked the beginning of what would later become the core activities of the company.

When his son Chris took over the farm, tulip cultivation became an increasingly important part of the business. Although other crops were still grown, the focus on tulips grew stronger with each passing year.

In 2010, the oldest son, Stef, joined the family farm. Under his leadership, the company shifted its focus entirely to tulips.

This marked a turning point: the family invested in their first greenhouse, a project in which everyone contributed and worked side by side.

Over the years, this original multifunctional greenhouse expanded into a modern two-story tulip forcing facility, combining innovation with traditional craftsmanship.

What once started with just a few rows of tulips in the open field has grown into VaVi Tulips as it is today: a thriving family business rooted in the fertile soil of the Noordoostpolder, cultivating tulips with pride and dedication for three generations.
